Arizona Golden Rescue

22-011 Chewy/Theo is a 1½-year-old white Goldendoodle. When the original owner could not keep the dog, a relative took him so he wouldn’t end up on Craigslist. But this owner couldn’t keep him, either, and contacted AGR. Chewy is reportedly good with kids and cats, sweet and gentle, but he needs training and is a counter-surfer and chewer if not supervised. There was a concern that even though he appeared to be neutered, the vet records we received did not mention any sterilization procedure. Turns out that he is one of the few male dogs we’ve taken in who were cryptorchid with undescended testicles. These had to come out and did a month later. He recovered from the surgery well. The first home we found for him just was not the right place for him. He was too big and energetic for the family and kept knocking down the children. So he was transported to what we now know is his forever home with an adoptive couple and two tweenage girls. They renamed him Theo. Right away, the family registered for 8 weeks of obedience training that would start in only two weeks – good for them! The adopter commented:

We are so thankful for our Theo. His other nicknames are “Good boy”, “handsome gentleman”, “Smart boy”, or “Tio”. From day one, he stole our hearts with his big brown eyes, puppy kisses, and cuddles. He loves car rides with his head out the window (even with a post-surgical cone) and wind in his hair. His every-Sunday brunch outings at dog-friendly patio restaurants. Movie nights on the family couch. Ham. Ice cubes that fall on the floor. His twice daily walks (that are so routine he will sit and wag by the door when it’s time). And watching us melt when he pushes the boundaries… we don’t even need to scold him…. He already knows and instantly buries himself into us with love cuddles which is Theo for “Sorry guys, I’m trying. I love you.” The quirkiest thing about our Theo is he loves to have his paws cleaned… when we grab his paw wipes he runs toward us and rolls on his side… he will lick our hands while we wipe his paws after walks. Everyone that knows us has quickly realized that we travel with our bud everywhere. If you’re not a dog person, you surely will become a Theo person once you meet him. Above all, we could not be more thankful for AGR selecting us for him. It’s like he has always been waiting for us, and we have been waiting for him!
