Arizona Golden Rescue

The dogs both needed vaccine updates. During Baxter’s exam, the vet noted a heart murmur. So, AGR authorized an echo cardiogram to be done. It revealed a mild-moderate sub-aortic stenosis, but this is not of concern. The pair was placed with an adopter in Peoria. The adopter commented: 

On January 2, 2023 our lives changed because we adopted two retrievers, Baxter and Leah, brother and sister. We had lost our two retrievers (brother and sister) the year before and were seriously hurting. We took a leap of faith and adopted. We were afraid at first how we would feel, but they became a part of our family instantly. We have bonded like we always had them from birth. They get up every morning with a smile on their faces. They play and eat and nap. We have taken Leah on walks and we are working with Baxter to do the same. He is a big boy. We are training them to swim in the pool. They sleep with me every night. They love their special treats. They play with their toys. It’s now months later and we live every day knowing we are loved and they are loved. On February 18, 2023 we unexpectedly lost my first-born son. He left our home and went to Fry’s to get two special bones for Baxter and Leah. He passed away and did not make it home. Prior to him passing, when he visited they would always sleep with him – he insisted. When he saw the pictures of Leah and Baxter on January 1, 2023, he texted me and said, “Mom I don’t know them, but I already love them.” They filled his heart with love and joy. Now they fill our hearts with love and joy to help us heal from our loss. We don’t know what we would do without them. It’s bittersweet, but true.
