24-047 Apillow is a 15-year-old beautiful, well-groomed and spayed Goldendoodle, who loves meeting people. She was chosen from 23 other puppies by the original owner’s young son because, as he said, she was as soft as a pillow. Hence, her adorable name! When Apillow’s owners realized, for personal reasons, they were no longer able to care for her, they made the tough decision to surrender her to AGR. For a 15-year-old Goldendoodle, she was in relatively good health; upon meeting her, many people think Apillow is much younger. She was fostered and eventually adopted by an adoptive couple, who have been there, along with the AGR team, through all the medical changes that a senior dog experiences such as arthritis, leaking urine, high protein in her urine and dental issues. They knew that Apillow needed a family who would be able to be at home and manage her medical issues. The adopters have provided the best care for her to continue with a life of ease and comfort. They said:

When Apillow came to us, she was battling kennel cough and we had moments where we feared we might have to let her go with dignity. Thankfully, with the incredible support from AGR and the love and care we provided, she made it through those tough nights, even when she struggled to walk or control her bladder. We all rallied around her and our persistence paid off.

Apillow likes car rides and is friendly, active, leash trained, obedient, affectionate and gentle. Plus, she loves a good go at Tug-of- War! She carries herself with grace and dignity as only a senior can do! Her demeanor of gentleness and playfulness makes her a great companion for cats and other dogs. Guess what her favorite snack is? Cheerios! A family cabin in Flagstaff is a frequent destination; she enjoys the cooler weather in the summer as she lounges in the cabin. The adopter related:

Apillow has blossomed into a joyful presence in our lives. She prances around our home with the spirit of a puppy after playing with our son more than Bo and Maxx do. It’s heartwarming to see her energy and enthusiasm for life. And let’s not forget her mischievous side – she’s a master at stealing food, clearly a pro at counter surfing in her younger days! She has brought so much joy and laughter into our lives, filling our days with love and lazy afternoons together. We feel truly blessed to have her with us. When the time comes for her to leave us, I find comfort in believing she will run straight into the arms of my Grandmother Shirley, who passed away on March 20, 2025. My Grandma adored dogs and all animals, and I know Apillow will be right with her, sharing the love they both deserve.

With the constant care and love of these adopters, Apillow will continue to live her best life!
