24-059 River  has the most incredible story of resilience and determination. A beautiful 2-year-old Golden/Lab mix,  River  just showed up in the finder’s yard one day. Unable to bring the dog into the house because of cats, the finder made  River  comfort able in the backyard with misters, wa ter and food . She was placed on stray hold with  AGR . Through her journey,  River  had developed her own coping strategies to survive. Being cautious, skittish and tentative, she needed to learn that she could trust humans once again. It was important to find the right family that would enable  River  to feel confident and unafraid. Wow, did she hit the jackpot with her adoptive family! Show ing compassion and patience, they allowed  River  the space and time for her to feel safe and secure. With many hours of training to ensure  River’s  success, it is a great pleasure to announce that  River  is now living her best life. Read these heartfelt sentiments from the adopter: 

Ah,  River ... we got  River  in November 2024 and  we loved her right away. At first, she was a bit leery, not know ing what was what. But boy, she sure settled in quite nicely. We always call her a beautiful girl, and sometimes I think she knows it. She loves her belly rubs. She really likes her nice big yard to do zoomies. She still is a little wary of some of our family members, but she is coming along. She certainly knows when it is time for breakfast and dinner! We love that she is a part of our family, and I am pretty sure she likes being part of the family too!
