24-087 Ivy is a 1-year-old spayed black Goldendoodle with a sweet and loving nature. You can be sure that her energy is boundless! When the surrendering owners were evicted from their home, their intention was to send her to the pound. But their neighbor saved Ivy from that fate. Unfortunately, she lived in a small apartment; it was not a viable relationship for either of them. Reluctantly she surrendered Ivy to AGR. Medically, Ivy was in good condition: she just needed a visit to the groomer to let her beautiful Goldendoodle coat shine brightly. As with many Doodles, it’s all in the haircut! Some training was involved for Ivy to be successful, as she was barking incessantly and was a bit anxious and uneasy around other dogs. An AGR volunteer answered the call to foster her. Ivy was a bit unsure and a bit scared at first, but the foster employed a variety of strategies to help Ivy feel safe and confident. Ivy has an intuitiveness about her; she senses other people’s emotions. Also, she thinks she is the “mom” to the cats in the family. An adoptive couple, her new forever parents, were taken with Ivy the moment they met her. As proactive and loving dog parents, they were vigilant to Ivy’s adjustment needs and enlisted training for Ivy to fully grow into herself. As they related: 

She has been such a joy and gets along with the cat!” [These sentiments from the adopters will melt your heart.] Ivy is the sweetest girl. She loves playing with her toys and cuddling. She is the ultimate Velcro dog – she sits underneath the desk while we are working and is always by our side. Off leash she loves playing with other dogs. Trainer Kitra is giving her special training to help calm the puppy energy. She met her Grandparents and showed so much care as to not jump on her 87-year-old Grandpa. Her intelligence to learn commands is wonderful, but she is also smart enough to choose when she listens and when she does not. It frustrates us at times, but also makes us proud that she has her own opinions. We can’t imagine life without her and are so thrilled to have received the support from AGR to match us with Ivy!
