25-008 Carly is a 2-year-old Golden Retriever mix that most likely includes German Shepherd. A caring person found Carly on the streets and brought her home. Unfortunately, she was unable to keep her and surrendered her to Arizona Golden Rescue. A member couple had recently lost Dixie of 12 years, another AGR rescue, and decided to foster. But as many of us know that quickly changed to adopting her! With a fresh start came a new name, Sophie! Her most distinctive feature, besides being a cutie, is her eyes. Picture a teenager who has outlined her entire eye in black kohl eyeliner and you have Sophie’s eyes! Initially, Sophie displayed some reactive behaviors to other dogs. They began training with the adopter. A retired teacher must always do the homework! Lo and behold, Sophie began to feel confident, safe and secure. Even the neighbors commented on the change in her demeanor. The latest report is that Sophie has flourished, and with a spark in her eyes, she romps and wrestles with other dogs in the neighborhood. At her core she is a human-loving dog, who most of the time would like to have the owner’s attention with pets and treats. As the adopters say: We are beyond thrilled with her progress and transformation! 

Sophie had her first boat ride on Canyon Lake. More than anything, she loved the wind blowing her Golden ears back with her face towards the sun. Dog beds are of no interest to her; mind you there are three in the house. What she has claimed as her own is the queen-size bed in the spare room, partly because she can look out the window and see all the comings and goings of the neighbors! She’s a Mrs . Kravitz! 

Sophie has numerous quirky postures; she can be on her hind legs and just flop into your lap, stretch with froggy legs, and magically can crawl her way to be under your chin and stretch herself out to the longest possible length to cuddle! She is industrial strength Velcro! In no uncertain terms, she has captured our hearts! Thanks to AGR for being patient with us and letting Sophie be a part of our family. As Sophie would say: Wags and cuddles for providing me with the best home where I am unconditionally loved!
