25-045 Cali Gold is a 10-year-old female Golden Retriever who was abandoned by her owner and left with his parents – they surrendered her to AGR. How lucky was Cali to find the perfect forever home with an adoptive family. There is a tremendous amount of affection as they share their journey of having Cali become a part of their family: We have only had Cali for a short time and we are still learning about her, but one thing for sure...she LOVES TOYS! When we first met Cali, she made us a bit nervous with how she greeted our Lucy and Fozzi; she was all snarly and kind of scary, but we found out it is all for show. Once she gets past being snarly and loud, she is all wiggles and a very sweet girl. 

Continue reading for a delightfully funny story about Cali’s visit to the vet: Recently we took Cali to the vet for a post-surgery checkup and while in the examination room, Cali was enjoying the tech’s attention – she was all wiggles and sweetness! Suddenly, she started barking and snarling while looking up at the tech! [The adopter] and the tech were so surprised and couldn’t understand what was happening. Lo and behold, they realized that Cali was barking and growling at a poster that was on the wall behind the tech! The tech actually had to take the poster down off the wall before Cali would calm down. Then the tech told Cali not to look around the room because the walls were covered with dog portraits! Maybe Cali was just saying, “I need to be on the wall too!”

Here are some of Cali’s favorite things: she loves resting in the sunshine, is our best watch dog, has a fetish with taking tags off the toys, enjoys walks! Her walk is the cutest, as she kind of sways back and forth. You truly feel the tenderness and warmth her new family has for her!
